Army Sees Worst Month For Suicides Ever

More soldiers killed themselves last month than any other month on record. There were 21 active-duty and 11 reserve soldier suicides in June, including seven in Iraq or Afghanistan, the Army reported on Thursday.

Judges could order truants into military service

A judge hearing a truancy case against a high school student could require the student to enroll in the Louisiana National Guard or other branch of military service, under an amended bill that cleared the Senate Education Committee.


April 13, 2010 - Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley signed a measure into law today that prohibits automatic release of student information to military recruiters gathered as a result of the administration of the ASVAB (Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery) test. Northwest Suburban Peace and Education Project would like to acknowledge the hard work of Pat Elder and the Maryland Coalition to Protect Student Privacy for his hard work on this issue.
