District 214 and the ASVAB test

The ASVAB test is administered once for the entire student body in District 214; usually in November. Northwest Suburban Peace and Education Project approached District 214 administration in September 2008 expressing concern about the ASVAB test particularly since none of the published information about the test mentions that the results are forwarded to the military. Our request was that the district change the recruiter release option so that the results are not provided to military recruiters (option 8).

The District declined to change the recruiter release option. However, they did agree to change the wording in all published materials so it is clear that the test is administered by the military and that contact information goes to the military. And they agreed to provide an option for those who do not want to be contacted by the military.
